Okay, I'm in--this sounds like a great book!

One verse that always amazes me is Zephaniah 3:17, which says, “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Sometimes, I get so busy dealing with life and family that I actually have to remind myself to reflect the joy and delight that mark my Father's heart.

Very cool book!

1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush[a] and Seba in your stead.
--Isaiah 43:1-3

Heb 12:1-3:
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

Ephesians 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

It makes me think of the smallest little girl skipping unaware into the throne room of the all powerful ruler past all the security, and no one bats an eye or questions her place because the king is her father. She always has audience with him.

That book looks great!!! I like Philippians 1:6, which says that He will complete the work He has started in you! :) So encouraging to me when things are hard.

You need to come over to my blog and enter my book giveaway for The Hole in Our Gospel now, if you haven't read it! :)

Well, this will be my first greeting to you on your blog...have been reading quietly now for a few months and praying for dear son #2 to come home!

Here is my verse(s): Gal. 4:6-7

And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Amen and amen!

Hey Vince and Alisa. We love you and pray for you often. It is Preston Adam Goings. My favorite verse is Ephesians 1:4-6. I love the idea of understanding the idea of being an adopted child of God. The idea that he chose me.

"For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."

1John 3:1 "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."

I've loved this one for a while. Who doesn't want love lavished on them, especially by God himself.

We are dealing with some whining so Titu 2:12 fits us well. "Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age." Thanks for such an inspiring give-away. Carla spoke to our MOPS group recently and definitely inspired me to approach parenting in a different way. Thanks, Robin

I saw my husband is trying to win as well. I didn't know if it was one per family. You can throw my comment away if that is the case. I can't wait to read Carla's book! I am sure it will help P and I.

My favorite verse is Hebrews 13:5
because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you

It makes me think of what a great Father he is to me. There is NO way He is going to leave me. That is how a child should really feel!!
We love you 3 and soon to be 4!!

We can depend upon our Great and Marvelous God for all things...help, encouragement, stillness, contentment, beauty, grace, blessings, mercy. Stepping into the presence of God is fire in a believer's soul...it quenches the deepest thrist and satisfys the deepest hunger. We cannot make Him too small...for His is MIGHTY to move! Thank you, Alisa for the open ivitation to share favorites in God's word.
Psalm 121:
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD,the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Please let us know (even if we don't win) where we might pick up a copy of this book!
