Punch in the Gut

A few of you know that we're prayerfully beginning the process to adopt another child from Ethiopia. We cannot officially re-apply with America World to begin the paperchase until we submit our 6-month post-placement home study (we're having that visit next week). And then we cannot submit our application to Ethiopia until Micah has been home for one year (Apr 2010). So that gives us about 6 months to compile our dossier.

Last week I requested AW to send me a new adoption application, so I can ease myself back into paperchase mode. Well...ease, it was not. More like a punch in the gut. The paper work aspect is manageable...I've already been-there-done-that twice; it's the finances that I just can't seem to get that been-there-done-that feeling about.

I suppose some of my angst is because we also need to make a decision about a home purchase in the next two months. On top of learning, that because Vince is considered self-employed, we will be able to re-coup very little (if any) of the Federal adoption tax credit.

Needless to say, all the above gave way to a good cry. Guess I was expecting a second adoption to be painless, since the first one was such a test of faith. But it doesn't work that way--at least not for me. God continues to use the seasons of my life to perfect my faith...with obviously a long way to go.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses,
so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9

God is using the seasons in our lives in much the same way - always growing and stretching faith. Love you all much and am so glad you had a sweet trip to the Ozarks with Micah.

Praying that God will provide beyond your wildest dreams!

Can you elaborate on why the tax credit doesn't apply to self-employed? That's not good news for me!

when i say that i know... i know. When starting our adoption 3 years ago, it was hard to step out on faith on the finance part, especially for Casey. God has provided more than we can imagine. In ways we never saw coming. I never worried about money with this, and now I see why... I had/have so much more to worry about and have faith to get through. God continues to provide so much for our family even though this storm has no end in site.

hope ya'll are doing great!

Hey Alisa, I'm right there with ya girl. We plan to apply again in October when our 6 month report is in, and the finances FREAK ME OUT. But I know God is able....he is on the orphans' side!! I'll be praying for you guys as we pray through our upcoming decisions too!

See you in a couple weekends!

Praying for you as you begin to step out in faith. The walk of faith is not for the weak by any means. You all have been faithful in so many ways and God goes before those who are faithful!!

Love ya,
Kim

Sometimes a good cry is wonderful :) I think the finances were more overwhelming the second time for me, because I felt like it couldn't happen again, right? God will provide (I balked at the adoption of one and he gave us enough to adopt two).

It was so nice to meet you guys in Branson--email me if you find yourself up our way!
